Renew Yourself: Bury What Holds You Back

Renewing yourself means breaking free from how others see you, how they treat you, and the opinions they have about you. Often, we allow disrespect or mistreatment because, deep down, we feel we deserve it. If we truly believed we didn’t deserve it, we wouldn’t stay around those people or tolerate that behavior. When we continue to entertain things that don’t align with who we are or where we want to go, it’s a clear sign that we need renewal. You can’t become a new person in a new year without first renewing yourself.

Today, I challenge you to finally let go of what’s holding you back. I’m not offering business strategies or marketing tips right now. Instead, I’m asking you to identify the things in your life that are disconnecting you from your greatness. It could be your attachment to social media, toxic relationships—whether emotional, physical, or psychological—or even the unhealthy relationship you have with yourself. Today is the day to face these issues.

Write down everything that keeps you from moving forward—your limiting beliefs, your insecurities, the things you’ve been taught that no longer serve you. Identify the excuses you’ve been telling yourself: "I can’t grow my business because I lack money," or "I can’t post content because I don’t know how to shoot videos." Write them all down. Today, purge yourself of these thoughts and limitations.

How I do it: I write them all on paper, take them outside, and burn them at the beginning of every year. I physically and symbolically get rid of the things standing between me and my greatness. And today, I’m asking you to do the same. Dig the grave for those limiting beliefs and let them go.

You might be wondering why I’m talking about renewal and then telling you to dig a grave. It’s because, to truly step into the life of the new you, the old you has to die. There’s a part of you that must be put to rest—the part that’s been holding you back from your excellence, abundance, joy, and clarity. Today is the day to let go of that person. There’s a death that has to take place in order for you to live fully in your greatness.
